Stewardship Drive & Pledge Cards for the 2016 Budget Year will be mailed Thanksgiving Week. Please take a moment to read the stewardship letter from our Senior Warden Linda Merriman:
Dear Fellow Cathedral Paishioners,
It is time to launch our 2016 Stewardship Pledge Drive. This coming year, more than ever, our Cathedral is depending on you for financial support. Your donation will support not only the physical plant of the Cathedral that provides our central place of worship, but the many ministries, old and new, that are as much a part of the Cathedral as the altars, the pews, and the pulpit.
In 2016, the ministries will include our Choir, the newly formed Trinity Cathedral Boy Choir, and the support of our clergy-just some of the things that make possible the beautiful worship experience we cherish. Our Outreach Ministry and its Walk-In Ministry efforts are a central point of our Mission, as are its support of other ministries such as Shepherd’s Heart, Bethlehem Haven, and Lydia’s Place. Add to those the countless other ways in which we minister to ourselves and to others and the need for your donations becomes very apparent.
We are also facing other common issues in 2016. The rising costs of maintaining Trinity Cathedral facilities is one example. The first phase of the roof repairs are in progress; the costs for the second phase have yet to be determined. Much needed electrical work will exceed $60,000. The Parish and Finance Offices have prepared numerous grant requests and have received commitments from The Advancement Society for Protestantism in Pennsylvania, the Diocese Growth Fund, and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks. These grants will help offset what has already been spent this year on physical plant repairs. But with all grant giving, we do not know how much the Cathedral will receive from these requests.
As you prayerfully consider your pledge for donation in 2016, please keep in mind what your dollars can do. I ask that you be generous in 2016, as you have been in the past, to ensure that we can continue to do these good works. Also, as in years past, you can designate how a portion of your pledge amounts are allocated by marking the appropriate line on the enclosed pledge card. You can drop your pledge card into the offering plate or mail the card to: Trinity Cathedral 325 Oliver Avenue Pittsburgh PA 15222.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Trinity Cathedral.
Senior Warden, Chapter of Trinity Cathedral
